Rinse it with clean water and rub away any buildup with your hand or a soft brush. On Copper Green you can wipe the glazed section clean the same way. Never use soap, and never seal or paint the raw clay. It has to stay porous to work.

No. That is mineral residue left as water passes through the wall, which means the olla is doing what it should. Rinse it and rub it off whenever you like.

Yes. Damp clay marks naturally over time. Wipe it with a damp cloth if you prefer it clean. It does not affect how the olla works.

Each piece is thrown and fired by hand in small batches, so tone and texture shift from one to the next. On Copper Green the glaze pools and thins differently on every piece, so no two come out the same shade. That variation is the material, not a defect.

The buried section stays raw on purpose. Glaze seals clay, and the olla only works because water can pass through the wall into the soil. The glaze sits on the part you see, the clay does the work below.

A small chip on the neck is cosmetic and harmless. A crack through the body will let water out too fast, so it should be replaced. If it arrives damaged, send us a photo within 48 hours and we will replace it.

Years. Fired clay does not wear out or break down. The only real risks are dropping it or letting water freeze inside it.

No. Egyptian winters are mild enough that your olla can stay where it is year round. You will simply refill it far less often.
